The Imo State House of Assembly has called for the revival of the State Orientation Agency for proper information to the people about Government policies and safeguarding moral values.
The call became necessary sequel to the motion moved by the member representing Onuimo Constituency,Hon.Uba James Esile at the floor of the house where he enjoined his colleagues to lend their support for the revival of the Agency.
He observed that achievements recorded by the present administration of governor Hope Uzodinma are not getting proper and adequate publication due to the inability of the State Orientation Agency ,ISOA to proper inform and enlighten the citizens of the State on the developmental efforts of the State Government.
Esile maintained that proper information dissemination on the policies of government will create an atmosphere of peace and inclusiveness that will in turn bring a positive view of the State Government policies before the citizens.
The Onuimo lawmaker further pointed out that the agency if revived has enormous roles to play mostly in imbibing the habit of upholding the cultural norms and values of the Igbo tradition as regards to respect for life, abstaining from drug abuse and cultism.
” The revival of the State Orientation Agency will enthrone civic responsibility and bring government closer to the people through proper information and dissemination of the 3Rs activities in developing the State.” he further said.
The motion which gained much support from members of the house was adopted as it urged the governor Uzodinma to direct the ministry of Information to urgently revive the State Orientation Agency and put it to effective use for proper information dissemination of the State Government’s policies.
